for your placenta capsules

and postpartum recovery

please reach out if you need any additional assistance!

My role as your placenta encapsulation specialist doesn’t end when your package is delivered. I’m here for you beyond that—available to answer questions, provide guidance, and support you as needed. Feel free to reach out anytime at info@thenurturedleaf.com.

It is safe to begin taking your placenta capsules as soon as you receive them. The hormones and nutrients naturally present in the placenta may support your body’s recovery from childbirth. Because the placenta is a blood-rich organ, the capsules contain easily absorbed iron and other beneficial compounds.

For optimal results, it’s recommended to use your capsules within the first 6 weeks postpartum—this is when your body can benefit from them the most. During this time, you can store the capsules in a cool, dry place like a cabinet or countertop. Please avoid refrigerating them, as the moisture level in the fridge is too high and may compromise their quality.

If you have capsules remaining after the initial 6 weeks, transfer them to a freezer-safe Ziploc bag and store them in your freezer to help preserve freshness. You can take them directly from the freezer—no need to thaw.

Some women choose to save leftover capsules for later use, such as when their menstrual cycle returns or during menopause. However, there is no current data on the safety or efficacy of long-term storage of desiccated placenta. Over time, hormone levels may degrade, and potency cannot be guaranteed.

SUGGESTED DAILY INTAKE FOR YOUR PLACENTA CAPSULES

Week 1: 2 capsules, 3 times a day
Week 2: 2 capsules, twice a day
Week 3: 1 capsule, twice daily
Weeks 4-6: 1 capsule daily

Please keep the following recommendations in mind:

  • Do not exceed 9 capsules per day.

  • For best results, take your capsules with a meal.

  • Listen to your body. Everyone responds differently, so pay attention to how you feel. We can adjust your dosage as needed.

  • I’m here to support you—please don’t hesitate to reach out anytime if you have questions or need guidance.

  • Do not store capsules in the refrigerator due to high moisture levels. Instead, keep them in a cool, dry place (like a cabinet or countertop) for up to 6 weeks. After that, transfer any remaining capsules to the freezer in a freezer-safe bag.

⚠️ Important: Do not consume placenta capsules during pregnancy.

HOW TO ADJUST YOUR INTAKE

Finding Your Ideal Dosage

If you're feeling well-balanced and supported, it's best to continue with your current daily intake. For most clients—about 98%—this standard schedule works beautifully.

However, if you’re feeling emotionally off-balance or more depleted than usual, you can gently increase your intake by one capsule at a time, as needed. Please do not exceed 9 capsules per day.

On the other hand, if you experience any of the following symptoms, it may be a sign to reduce your dosage or space it out more gradually:

  • Excess energy or restlessness

  • Difficulty sleeping

  • Oversupply of breast milk

  • Mild headaches

  • Sensitivity to iron supplements

If any of these occur, I’m here to help—please don’t hesitate to reach out so we can find a dosage that feels right for you.

If you notice increased energy in the evenings, try avoiding capsules later in the day. Some individuals may be more sensitive to the hormones in the placenta. If this seems true for you, consider reducing to one capsule per meal for a more gentle effect.

a few key notes

Tuning In to Your Body

Listening to your body and noticing how it responds to your placenta capsules is essential. You know yourself best, and your experience matters. If you ever have questions or need support, I’m always here and happy to help.

Please do not exceed 9 capsules per day. Taking more will not necessarily prevent postpartum depression, and it’s important to use your capsules mindfully. If you’re experiencing emotional distress or struggling in any way, please reach out. Together, we can explore additional support options. You are not alone—help is available, and you deserve to feel supported.

Storage Guidelines:

  • Weeks 1–6: Store capsules in a cool, dry place (counter or cabinet).

  • After 6 weeks: Transfer capsules to the freezer for long-term use. Use them up within 1 year.

  • ⚠️ Do not refrigerate, as the moisture can compromise the capsules.

IF YOU GET A COLD, MILD FEVER OR MASTITIS

Illness and Capsule Use

If you catch a cold while taking your placenta capsules, you can continue using them and observe how your body responds. If you don’t notice any improvement—or if symptoms worsen—it’s a good idea to gradually reduce your intake and discontinue use temporarily.

Here’s how to taper off gently:
If you're taking 2 capsules twice daily, you can take 2 in the morning, 1 in the afternoon, and none in the evening. Then, stop completely the next day. Once you’re feeling better, you may resume taking your capsules at your regular dose.

Important:
If you develop a fever or mastitis, stop taking the capsules immediately. Use the same one-day tapering method as described above. Wait until your symptoms fully resolve before resuming.

As always, feel free to reach out if you need support or help adjusting your intake.

PLACENTA TINCTURE

Placenta Tincture Instructions

Your placenta tincture has been prepared using Tito’s Handmade Vodka. To help accelerate the maceration process, gently swirl the bottle once daily for six weeks before using it. If you forget or are unable to swirl it daily, don’t worry—the tincture will still be effective even if left untouched.

There’s no need to strain the tincture unless you prefer a clearer liquid. Store the bottle in a cool, dark place (such as a cabinet), and make sure the dropper top is tightly sealed.

It’s best to finish your placenta capsules before starting the tincture.
⚠️ Do not use the tincture during pregnancy.

Before each use, you may notice some natural settling at the bottom—this is normal. Simply swirl or shake gently to mix.

Suggested Usage

For Adults:
Take 7–10 drops under the tongue and hold briefly, or mix into juice or water. Use as needed, up to a few times daily. The tincture is commonly used for:

  • Hormonal balance

  • Emotional transitions

  • Energy support

  • Stress relief

  • Menstrual cycle regulation

⚠️ Do not consume during pregnancy.

For Babies (6 months+):
Give 3–5 drops mixed with breast milk, water, or juice. If desired, place the drops in hot water first to allow the alcohol to evaporate.
You may also apply 1–2 drops directly to the gums for natural pain relief (e.g., teething discomfort).

HERBAL LACTATION SUPPORT BLEND Capsules

Herbal Lactation Support Capsule Instructions

Before beginning your herbal lactation support capsules, please wait until your milk supply has fully come in and stabilized. This helps you understand your body’s natural milk production before introducing any new support.

These handcrafted, organic capsules are formulated with a blend of traditionally used lactation-supportive herbs. In addition to helping increase and maintain milk supply, they provide nourishing nutrients to support your overall wellness during lactation. They’re a great option for breastfeeding and/or pumping mothers looking to support their milk production naturally.

Suggested Use:

  • Start with 2 capsules, three times daily.

  • If you don’t notice an improvement within 72 hours, you may increase to 3 capsules, three times daily.

Please note that everybody is different—some may respond more quickly or strongly than others.

⚠️ Do not take these capsules during pregnancy, as the herbs may not be safe for expectant mothers.

⚠️ Important:
If you’ve had a Cesarean birth, please wait to submerge yourself in a full bath until your healthcare provider gives you the go-ahead.
